I just ran my cable through the obc before I put the end on the cable. If you don't hook it up you can put one end on and pull it through until the lug is stopped by the obc, that gives you plenty of room to put the other lug on at the forward side. I use the copper lugs they are a lot better to work with for me.

Grave digging here- i assume the stud should be brass? Does it need to be any particular thickness to keep up with the 2 awg wire conductivity?

5/16" diameter is the size most used; many have found that a brass toilet bowl bolt works just fine for this conversion....
