Jeff,
Is yours the one with really dark pictures that are kinda difficult to see?

Stock G2/9 clutch the inner part is iron and includes the pulley/inner sheave and center shaft. The rest of the clutch is the alum movable sheave and alum spider, steel weights, plastic guides, is all attached to the spider which slides onto the end of the iron shaft via splines and just sits there held by the clutch mount bolt. The iron inner sheave will stay on due to the taper fit on the crank. If on there a long time they lock on good. Proper puller is best maybe a little heat since its iron. You can try the bolt and grease ideas. I had a puller made and removed some but mine it twisted the puller with a 3/4 impact it was on so hard, and its still on there lol. Don't use more than a 1/2 impact. Don't ever use tools on sheaves to remove clutches. Thread is strange 14mmx1 or something, my puller made on a lathe. Best way is just buy/burrow or use dealer if you don't have access to a guy that can make one or lots of time to mess with it.

THANKS! - I got a puller bolt and used my impact wrench and it popped right off. Next I need to get into the crankcase to remove the piston and replace the rings... but haven't yet decided if I want to tackle that myself, or if it's a good time to bring it down to a repair shop to have them finish it off. I'm just afraid that if I go in there I might screw it all up. (you know how that goes sometimes... one step forward and three steps back). - Thanks again for your help!

If you are mechanically inclined at all it should be fairly easy to re-ring your motor, Mine took about an hour, But then I am a mechanic by trade. You will need a basic set of tools, torque wrench, and a ring compressor, If I remember correctly

I DID IT! - thanks all for the help. Have not put the engine back in the cart yet, but the new rings definitely make a huge difference as the piston now sits snuggle in the cylinder. - I also found the Yamaha G2-G9 manual online that a couple of folks posted. Thanks!:

Will post an update once it's running.
