If you take it to a starter rebuilt shop, they may be able to repair it,
but everything I've ever read on BGW about a bad S/G stud never seemed to be an easy fix by a DIY'r.

Ok, tomorrow I'm going to test both the S/G and the regulator. I will prob. end up getting a used S/G anyway if I can find one

Performed this test on the S/G and it failed. I only saw 12.3 at WOT, which is battery voltage at rest also. It didn't rise

Check out a local alternator/ignition place, a rebuild of the S/G should cost less than a new one.

Good call on the rebuilder Stan, found one who can do it. Dropping the S/G off tomorrow. If the rebuild is cheap enough, I will probably throw in a regulator as well

I have found that the older the old school type guy you take it to is, the better the job is when it comes to some things. This is one of those things. The tech hasn't changed much in a long time on S/Gs and the like, so the seasoned guys have lots of experience and really know what works and what will last. Keep us posted on how the rebuild goes!

Well, bad news. The S/G rebuilder won't touch the S/G because it is one of those cheap china ones (as I thought). Can't wait to tell the customer that a new S/G just became a $300+ job

I doubt it, he wasn't the one to install it, a "shop" did
