1998 Gas Club Car Carryall VI tune up / parts
Hey everyone, I am brand new to the site and the club car world. I purchased a 1998 gas club car carryall VI (FE350D-AS10) with a Jakes lift and big tires (I think 10" or 11") and I have a lot of questions. Basically my cart could use some TLC. It sat on a guys property for about a year. He replaced the fuel filters and battery last month, so it still has old oil, gas, and whatever else you can think of. I drove it yesterday and it appeared that the clutch was slipping/having a hard time catching (belts look old/worn/ripped). It also died while I was driving (engine idiling but it seemed like the clutch wasn't engaging/catching. Pushed the gas pedal down with no response. After I started pushing it down the street, the clutch fixed itself and I drove it home). Anyways I wanted to do a tune up on it and figured I'd ask you guys the best route. I was planning on replacing the belts, fuel filters, oil(10W/30?, I don't know what type or how much), oil filter, and air filter. I was also planning on cleaning the fuel pump (wasn't working right when I went to pick it up, but the guy messed with it and it started working. Wasn't pulling a prime, but now it does) fuel tank(old gas), and carburetor. I don't want to replace the clutch unless you guys thinks its necessary (going to do tune up first and see if that fixes the problem). Or is maybe a new high torque spring something in my future? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Re: 1998 Gas Club Car Carryall VI tune up / parts
This should be pretty simple!! I will tell you what I have done and what I would do and others will also chime in. Take it all with a grain of salt. I ordered all my replacement parts from Carts Parts Plus. Shipping charges suck to California but you're a bit closer. I have read to just stick with 30 oil for the motor. So I did. A new plug, properly gapped, Air filter, some fresh gas with a bit of StaBil in it wouldn't hurt. Get a new belt for the drive and for your Starter Generator. I would start with the basics and go from there. Put the batter on a trickle charger while you are waiting for part and then you can start fresh when you're ready to put the pedal to the floor. Fuel filters are only a few bucks as well so pick some of those up too. You're on the right track! Don't overthink it. I found a manual off of ebay for like 30 bucks for my motor. best to get one of those so you can familiarize yourself with what does what, why it does it and it also has a few troubleshooting tips in there as well. Good luck on your adventure, update us as you make progress! Welcome to the best forum I have found!

If anyone could also point me in the right directions of parts, that would be awesome. I have no idea of the correct sizes/part numbers of anything? I been browsing ebay and random websites. I am located in South FL if that helps

So 10W-30 synthetic oil is the way to go? Does anyone know if I need to re-oil the transaxle?

Re: 1998 Gas Club Car Carryall VI tune up / parts
Welcome to BGW Kizyle!
I just ordered almost all of the same stuff Vinnie just suggested from CPP just yesterday! (I went with a severe duty drive belt though) With your 98 "unitized" transaxle, CC specs are to use 80W-90 gear oil. and here's a pic of the fill and drain plugs and fill level from a CC manual! (click on pic to enlarge) Unitized Transaxle.jpg Hope this helps! |

Re: 1998 Gas Club Car Carryall VI tune up / parts
Thanks Lockman and Vinny, the tune up went well. New belts, spark plug, filters, oil, and some miscellaneous cleaning (runs a lot better now). I even drained the gas tank and cleared out all this sediment that was on the bottom. Going to do a paint job and re upholster the seats? Is there any threads on making new seats on here? The seat I have now, the wood is all rotted out? I was going to cut some wood to spec and then place the foam over it and buy a staple on kit from ebay. Is there anywhere I can buy a seat or foam padding for a cheap price? Next on the list is a custom dash and possibly a LED head light kit (don't know if it' worth buying, my headlights have that yellow haze). Thanks
