Default g16 gov. question

i know this is a well beaten subject, but was wondering, if you put the zip tie on the spring shaft and have it tight, i know now its wide open, and down hills be careful. but can there be any damage inside the trans axle from doing this, i have never seen inside, but i do understand there are weights that work with the carb, and the tie will overpower them so it stays full throttle. thanks

The governor is still functional with zip-tie trick, just much higher speed. The zip-tie trick seems to be ok on the weights & shaft, its the "flip trick" that murders YDRA "team" input shafts quick. A totally stock cart (8" wheels & all) with zip-tie will do about 18mph, a totally stock cart with a wasted governor weight set/ input shaft will do like 27mph, i would say the governor still works.

I zip tied the governor on my G16 and it runs about 23-24 mph with stock 18" tires. The motor sounds fine at that speed so I don't think I'm hitting the point of valve float. Am I?

if it cant do any damage at the axle, then i will leave it on, before the tie i had about one third of the nut left, and it ran 20mph. where i live there is one of those speed things by the roadside, but it hasent been working ,, will check soon, but i would gess around 30, what a dif. i don't plan on running it long at full, but its fun once in a while. my cart is like riding a horse, going fast you cant sit back, you have to buck with it, also i am concerned about oil to the valves at the high speed.thanks all, spec. CG you have always helped me.
