How much did this conv. Cost you?
I asked the dealer about it last week and he quoted me $400 for the new battery tray plus $100 to install it, plus new Rangers plus cables. It added up quick? |

I'll tell you as long as you don't tell my wife!!! I got the tray for $142.45 delivered : http://www.ebay.com/itm/190932506763...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT There are only 4 bolts holding the tray in....swapping it out was easy. Mounts in front to existing mounting location and in the rear to frame bolts. just remove and re install. Easy. I got the rangers for $1249 after tax....but they're sweet, right!? The new cables were like $7. |

Thanks, your secret is safe with me!
I'm really interested in your new run times, I bet you get 30% more. Please report back after you get those Rangers broken in. |

Btw- my friend just did that same conversion on a 2014 rxv to 6 rangers but added the new rxv high output controller and added high speed gears.
He is reporting 35 mph, with no loss of torque. And is playing two rounds of golf only using 35% of his batteries. It is on 14" rims with low pro tires. |

Re: RXV battery conversion 4- 12v to 6- 8v
Im not knocking the 6x 8v swap, thats the first thing i suggest to a 4x 12v rxv owner who needs batteries (and #1 on my list if i had a rxv). But, the aluminum tray is my hitch. i dont live in a high rust/salt/ocean area, so the rust is not my number 1 problem. I have seen many, many more clubcars (all aluminum frame & battery tray) with batteries literally falling out the bottom from corrosion damage. And when they get batteries, the holes for the battery rods are far from even looking like a area for a hole. They most of the time have at least one area where i have to replace the aluminum angle to even have a place for the battery to sit. I understand the rust belt and beach areas, but i would rather have a steel tray, like ezgo uses/sells.

Re: RXV battery conversion 4- 12v to 6- 8v
So first lap around the 'hood yielded 50.6 pack voltage ~ 94% of full....that's 3.5 miles of varying tx hill country road. Obviously a process to break in pack....but seems great by the packs ability to hold the requirements of full throttle travel. Looking forward to many years of good use!

I think the aluminum gets eaten faster.

Re: RXV battery conversion 4- 12v to 6- 8v
Best battery box for RXV...
#3- aluminum... bolt holes elongate/fail. corrosion is rust by another name. metal expensive and soft. #2 steel.... rust IS rust. #1 plastic ... is free in RXV no rust no corrosion (Did i mention it is free) Although the Trojan 12v batts are not that great, We have had Very good service from Crown batts. With routine maintenance, the stock setup gives good range . We expect the batts to last about 5 years for average use . (our typical user drives 3 to 10 miles regularly on hilly paved roads. --golf cart community / neighborhoods -connected by "cart paths" to shopping-pools tennis etc.) |
