Extreme Front End Play, Steering wheel not centered
My 92 DS has an extreme amount of front end play and the steering wheel is about 90 degrees out, Slack is not very noticeable when cart is sitting still, slight movements of the steering wheel can be seen at the tires, however when moving it is hard to keep the cart on the road.
Where do I start?? I have searched and can't find anything that helps much Thanks David |

Grease all the joints and check the toe in It needs at least 1/8-1/4" to track correctly and not wander

You should be able to adjust the drag link to center the steering wheel

Re: Extreme Front End Play, Steering wheel not centered
TQC... I think I fixed it!! the tie rod end on the steering box was screwed all the way in, so the cart would turn right a lot but only turn left a little and 1 of the A-Arms front bolt was loose!!

Re: Extreme Front End Play, Steering wheel not centered
I know this is a different cart, but I had the same thing on my Ezgo. It was ok when at stock 12mph. But then I did some major upgrades and can hit 30mph.
The steering was loose and wandered bad enough to be very dangerous above 20mph. Unfortunaltly I had to throw a lot of money at the problem. I replaced the front and rear leaf springs to heavy duty, to reduce the bouncing. I also replaced the complete steering box/housing. That nearly fixed it. I then put a steering stabilizer Made for lifted carts. My cart is stock height so I had to weld the bracket to the front axle. That cleared up the problems. I can safely drive it now at 20-25mph. Before I was afraid for my life at 25mph. It wandered bad and I was afraid of over correcting and flipping the cart. Just replacing or rebuilding the steering box would probably help a lot. |
