Default 2006 club cart ds generator over heating

I’ve gone thru 3 generators in 8 months. Just bought my 4th. The generator/starter is getting blazing hot after a 30 minute cruise. I’ve replaced the voltage reg. I’ve checked the grounds. The belt isn’t super tight. I’m tired of wasting money on a starter... I don’t know what to do!!! Please help lol

Stop buying cheap starter generators.

Use a voltmeter to check the voltage output of the starter generator. Should be no higher than 14.5V with the engine revved. If its higher than that, either the yellow wire from the S/G to the regulator is grounded, or the S/G has an internal problem.

When you did the first replacement, did it have the original Mando S/G? Typically the only reason those fail is the brushes wear out, and that's a $40 fix.

All the generators that came out have locked up. Couldn’t even spin the pulley. So I have a pile of them. The lastone is still (kinda) good so I’m going to get that one rebuild with Heavy Duty parts.

I just check the volts. I’m assuming as it’s running use the volt meter on the battery to check?? If so it’s running at 12.14v wide open. This bitch is kicking my *** lol
