Aux Battery / Stereo Questions
Stereo and wiring set up question. Sorry in advance for the long description.
I'm in the process of adding an Aux battery to my 2013 Precedent. I have a 4-12V set up so I have some room to work with in the battery compartment. Here is the plan and the question. Full time power for the stereo will come from the aux battery. (Aux battery will share a common ground with the cart batteries). However the stereo also requires a switched power (I have to imagine its connected to an internal relay in the stereo) to turn the stereo on. I was planning on using power from the cart "on/off" key switched(12v) for this operation. Is this a bad option?? Will I hurt anything?? Or, should just do a master switch (on/off) from the aux battery? (I'd really rather have it coming from the cart key). Sure would like to hear what others have done. Oh, been on here for about a year but this is my first post. Michael |

Aux Battery / Stereo Questions
Welcome to the forum! Using your 12v key switch or another switch for the acc wire to switch the stereo control wire is a very good idea. That’s what I did on mine and it works great!
Make sure your key switch is 12V though. |

Re: Aux Battery / Stereo Questions
2 power sources for your stereo may fry it and there is no "common" ground on a golf cart. no common frame/ground on vehicles over 24v. you need to hook the stereo ground to the battery, not the frame. key power is 48v, you could use a 48v relay to make key on power for the stereo.
amazon has a $13 48v relay that would do what you need. connect: 85 to key on power, 86 to the 48v ground (battery with black wire), 30 to 12v batt+, 87 to stereo key on wire |

Re: Aux Battery / Stereo Questions
most 48v-12v converters also have hot and key on power and wouldn't require the extra battery/relay
easier yet is a $25 bluetooth speaker and velcro to hold it on the dash |

Re: Aux Battery / Stereo Questions
Do you have pics of where you put the battery? I have a 48v (4x12v) as well and am looking for ideas. Thanks!
