48V Lead Battery from solenoid keeps dying
I have a 1999 48V Club car golf cart. The golf cart started shuddering when I hit the gas pedal so I tested all 6 batteries individually and 5 of the 6 were good. Since the batteries are fairly new I replaced the one bad battery and the cart worked for a week or so. Same problem again with the new battery.
The battery is the one that the main power from the solenoid leads into. Charger now keeps cutting on inermittenly since that battery is now reading 7 volts. Not sure what could keep causing the one battery to drain. Thanks in Advance!! |

Re: 48V Lead Battery from solenoid keeps dying
Are these 8 volt or 12 volts batteries?
Is it possible that the offending battery is not getting charged ... check the wiring of your charger to ensure the entire pack is connected to it. Do you have a voltage reducer connected to the battery pack? Or are your auxiliary loads connected to this offending battery? Perhaps post a photo or two of your battery pack wiring and the BGW members should be able to help you troubleshoot this problem. |

Re: 48V Lead Battery from solenoid keeps dying
Yes they are 8 volt batteries, and I am not sure why the one battery in the series would not get charged while the rest are.
I do have a voltage reducer connected, but not to the battery that is drained. Changed the battery and the brand new battery did the same thing. I did recently disconnect batteries to replace the leaf springs and paint the golf cart body. Disconnected F/R switch, fuse and receptacle, and battery leads. Would this be caused if I hooked the fuse and receptacle red wire to a battery other than the same one that is connected to the solenoid red wire? |

The red wire from the charger port should connect to the same post of battery one that has the cable going to the solenoid. The black wire goes to pack negative.

yes.....you bypassed it.... and if its down to 7 volts , i would hit it with 12volt charger and bring it up to the others before i charged the pack as a whole.....but you gotta keep an eye on it if you do that... |

Thanks. Yeah I put it back together quickly and I must have wired it incorrectly. |
