Default 48 volt upgrade charger question

It is time for new batteries so I am making the switch from 36 volts to 48 colts on my 1997 ezgo medalist. There are plenty of 48 volt chargers out there but I cannot seem to find any with the TXT D style 2 prong plug. I guess I could go with an onboard charger wired directly to the battery string but am researching all of my options. To stay external would I have to buy a 48 volt and change out the plug or is there more to it ? Any thoughts ?

Thanks in advance.

You can put a 36V Powerwise D plug on just about and charger output cable. The Powerwise QE charger EZGO ships with their 48V carts monitor battery temperature and and the old style D plug won't work with it, it is a POS charger anyways.

The Lester Summit-II is the best charger available (IMHO) and can be ordered with the PW-D connector or on-board cables.

I have on board charger. Just need to plug in extension cord.
No need to worry about lugging external charger around when camping or worse forgetting to take it along.
Out board charger change receptacle to match charger and voltage.
Search threads. Plenty have done it.

If you are going to have to replace batteries and charger, it makes no sense not to go with lithium. The pricing is the same (you get charger with it). Performance and no maintanance and losing 450#'s makes it a no brainer.
