Default 2005 Precedent won't charge

When we plug the charger in to the cart, 2005 Club Car Precedent, nothing happens and the batteries won't charge. The needle on the charger dial does not swing to the right like it used to. We have verified that the charger works correctly by using it on another Precedent (2013). The wires from the charger socket on the cart go to the Lester Electrical OBC, 26445-03. Is there a way to test the OBC using an Ohm meter? Or is the OBC not the first place to look for a problem? (Those things are expensive!) Help!

Hi: I am still wondering how to verify my OBC is good or bad.
I have a 2013 Precedent with a working OBC with another part number. Can I swap the 26445-03 OBC in the non-charging 2005 Precedent with the 27750-04 OBC from the 2013 Precedent? Then I could plug in the charger to the 2005 and see if it works. If it does, I could conclude that the 26445-03 OBC originally form the 2005 is defective and needs replaced. Of course, this doesn't work if the 26445-03 and 27750-04 OBCs are not compatible... Can I put the 27750-04 OBC in the 2005 cart without damaging the cart or the OBC? Mike

Not sure about if the two are swap-able or not, however have you tried resetting your OBC already...doesn't usually work but you could get lucky...There is a section in the stickies on the home page explaining how to do it?

Also I skipped an important question...sorry...What is the pack voltage on your 2005 that is not charging and has the cart sat for an extended amount of time...the charger will not kick on if the pack voltage is to low as the OBC will not detect a charger is plugged in without said voltage level...

Camaroluvz28: I am hoping your 2nd post is the answer to the problem. The cart has not been used for a month or so. I checked the voltages of individual batteries (it is a 4 12V battery system). 3 batteries were below 4 volts, The 4th was OK at 11.5. We disconnected them from each other and we now have a 3 12 volt chargers charging each of the low voltage batteries. We will check in the morning to see if they are holding charge. Then reconnect everything and see if the charger kicks over. Hoping for the best. Thanks!

3 Low batteries were charged this morning. Hooked it all back together. Plugged in the charger and it kicked on like it is supposed to. The battery pack was at 48.0 before I hooked up charger. I guess it will go to 51.5 and all will be well. Next time I will just check the battery voltages first. Thanks. Does anyone know how low the battery pack voltage has to go before the OBC won't let the charger kick on?

No prob glad it worked out for ya...I'm not sure of exact voltage but generally I tell customers between 20-35 volts is needed for most chargers...

Wow! 3 batteries depleted to below 4 volts? I would be surprised if they are any longer good. You may get them charged back to 12 volts or more, but I would test them under load to see what you get.
