2013 EZGO TXT 48 brake cables are too short
Hello,
My 2013 EZGO TXT 48 Brake Cables are too short after installing the rear portion of the 5-inch lift kit with new heavy duty leaf springs. I have read a few threads, but am seeing mixed replies. Some folks have done modifications to the brake plate, others are saying to buy two passenger side cables. The passenger side on my cart does not quite reach either though. I am a little confused still about which solution is best for this cart. Are there any lifted EZGO owners out there who are really happy with their solution for this problem? Please share. PS - Thanks for having me on the forum; this is my first post. |

Re: 2013 EZGO TXT 48 brake cables are too short
I just got off the phone with a local golf cart shop here in South Florida. The service manager told me to flip the brake plates upside down and it will work. I'm headed to the garage to give it a try. Fingers crossed...

You actually need to swap sides as well as upside down.

My 15 TXT has a 6 inch lift on it. The brakes would lock up when you hit them. I had to add these small in line brake line adapters to fix it. I got them from Grahams golf carts in Myrtle Beach.

Re: 2013 EZGO TXT 48 brake cables are too short
I not 100% sure the brake cables on the electrics are the same as the gas carts, but can't imagine why they wouldn't be. Easy to search though. If you look into the ST or workhorse models, you will find that the brake cables are longer. I did a 6" lift on my TXT and just bought ST350 cables, solved the issue.
As for flipping the brakes, you simply move the drums and brake flange from side to side, which inverts the brake arm from top to bottom, but in some cases, there will be interference with suspension parts, not to mention it leaves the cables down low where they are more likely to get caught on stuff. |

As JP says, use st350 cables, roughly a foot longer.
