Default EZGO TXT non-PDS speed sensor question

I'm a newbie so forgive me for asking a stupid question. I just got a 2012 EZGO TXT and its not a PDS version (few / rev switch under seat).. I have seen tons of things for a PDS version to increase the speed but nothing for a non-PDS. I was told you can change the speed sensor to get the speed up to around 22mph but I have had no luck finding anything.

What options do I have besides changing out the motor?

First, we need to figure out which drive system your cart is.
If it is truly a 2012 TXT, it would be a TXT-48, but the F/R is a dash mounted switch next to the keyswitch.
Series drive carts had a F/R lever next to the driver's knee, but 2009 was the last year it was produced.

Of course, a previous owner might have installed a F/R switch below the seat edge since the dash mounted one is hard to reach unless you have long arms.

If the battery pack consists of six 8V batteries and there is a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover, you most likely have a TXT-48.

Pictures under the seat would help.

I'm sure the last owner did not install the lever, but he did apparently lie to me telling me it was a 2012. Me being new to this, I was not aware of this. So, I'm sure its a 2009 now.
