You should have the wires disconnected when ohming out the brake coil.

Correct, put the leads of your meter on both pins of the brake connector.

Perfect. That is the location that was presenting me with a 0ohm reading. I'm assuming that I received a faulty brake?

Probably... you could check the old brake or anything else to be sure, that the meter is working correctly.
