Oil in Airbox
I know this has been covered before........Oddly if I put the word oil in the search box it says sorry no matches found BS. Oh well I know that you are not supposed to fill the crankcase to the fill line if you lift your cart. I bought a 97 TXT with the 350 in it and it apparently has sn ST front axle and blocked up rear. I have covered what I have done so far in another thread but I am experiencing smoke blowing out the exhaust when I climb hills and oil in the airbox. No smoke all the time just under heavy load. Is the solution to go ahead and do an oil change and refill ........to where?? on the dipstick. Also what is the best battery to get for this cart. I know what the service manual says, but, someone give me a brand and a name to go on.

Re: Oil in Airbox
Could be to much oil, could also be a ring issue. A wet/dry compression test may be helpful in determining if it has problems. as for the oil, just drain out the old oil clean the filter/screen and re-fill with 1.5 qts. Then mark where the oil level is on the stick.
Not sure the battery make is that important but I end up with excide batteries most of the time and have always seem to have good, long lasting performance out of them. |

Re: Oil in Airbox
Ruredy has you covered on the smoking issue, either oil level or rings blow by under load. Any smoke out of the exhaust under load?
I'm thinking it calls for a group 27 battery but if you have or are planning any type of accessories or winch you might go with a marine deep cycle. Also which works best for you, top post or side mount. The charging system will handle it as long as you don't sit and jam with the lights on all night. |
