Default Re: 1987 Two Stroke - Need to slow down

Put it on jackstands, chock the front wheels and start it, without letting it rev too high, can you manually reach down and close the throttle by hand to slow it down?
If you can and it still revs up, remove the air filter assy and look up in the carb to make sure the throttle butterfly plate is still there.
