WTF!!!!! Thats strange. Ive never seen anything like that. Looks like its a nice cart and i think that Mike has you going in the right direction with the shock. Here's a picture of a cheap 4" lift.

Well after seeing this, I'm not so enamored with his idea or his fab skills. Sorry Acg. I think you should save your money for a jakes! put that thing back together, "never seize" the king pins, and roll pins so it comes apart easy next time. Grease the bushings, even tho the lower one looks bad, I would not change it, the Jakes kit will have new ones. Take care of the king pins, you will use those again.

I agree, not to move the upper shock mount if your getting a Jakes. I need to see the spring on the shock, to see if you will run into coil bind, if you put the collars on. Altho, you may not need them, with the Jakes, so wait on them.

Also 1/4" movement is a lot of wear for the front end, but don't do anything about it right now.

Need to stress: with that front end, you need to be carefull when driving it. It looks weak to me, and hitting an unexpected rut, ditch or rock could tare a front wheel off, and get someone hurt, not to mention bending up the car!

Wish I could tell you better news, but you knew you'd need a lift sooner or later.

Read the whole Yamaha site, You will learn much, and find out what these cars will do.

Sorry Mike

Mike I was surprised when you original said you liked it. I have never been enamored With this lift. The cart was cheep ($675) so eventually it will get a Jake's. The cart is only going to be used to haul tools around a Boy Scout by myself and the 2 rangers at low speeds. When I was putting the cart back together I set the shock on top of the mounts and the camber was almost perfect . Do you think moving the mount up .4" will save the tire wear and help the handling

Acg, yes do anything you want to the A arms. And that picture looks alot better, so if you have the capability, weld it up! And see if you can reinforce the way the spindle is poorly welded to the A arm. Thats what made me cringe! It was just a sloppy job, and I wasn't expecting that. I was invisioning nice clean cuts and good joints. When I saw that, my jaw dropped!!

Anyway, enough on that. That is a great price if it runs good! Is it a G16?

I see your on now, so I hope your reading old posts. Thats the best way to learn about these things. Get into the maintenance, and do all you can do there! All these old guys on here know much more than us new guys. They pioneered alot of this!

PS. Just don't let anybody get hurt by that front end. Don't want to make you feel bad, its a good car, and with a good front end, its a great car!

I just gotta say; with any performance car, And these ARE performance cars, AND we ALL eventually push the limits of performance cars. So like many others have said, get the best lift, and parts you can afford under you, because you never know when your gonna need the extra strength or ability of the car to save your but, from something YOU got YOURSELF into. I have the propensity to drive to fast for the terrain and I can't tell you how many times in my sand rail, it has kept me from getting hurt because it was built with quality parts.

I guess my message is: use parts that you can't out drive!

Have fun, be safe! Mike

Sorry Block, I knew you'd be readin this!!

I called Jake's today and they questioned putting their lift kit on a g16 with an 8" wheels. It had to do with the extension that keeps the tie rods level. I all ready have these extension on the spindle and it clears. If it clears now wont it still clear with a Jake's.. Has anybody used a Jake's 6" lift with 8" wheels ( mine have a 5 3 offset ) Were there any problems.

For what I know, you have to use a 10" wheel to clear the riser block. Or you can run into a bump steer problem. I would not trust your set-up.
