Here you can pull the engine, strip it down, its not that hard to do...then take it to the yamaha cart dealer and exchange it for a rebuilt for <700 last I knew. Slap the stuff back on it and drop it back in. If you took the cart in it cost a lot more. They bored them all, it was like a new engine not just a re-ring. Some small engine places will put rings and bearings in cheaper maybe 3-400 here, but its not the same as a full rebuild. Otherwise used is the way to go. I'm putting a clone in mine but its a lot of work to change everything over to a different engine, mainly doing it for double the power and cheaper than a dealer rebuild long as I do it myself. Its not a lot more than all the parts and bore job to rebuild one. You might be able to sell the old one for parts I'm not sure, it might depend on the damage inside.
