OK, 2 more questions
I have a 1998 gas EZ GO cart. I want to go with the shorter belt, but I am not sure where to get it and which one to buy. It has the 295 engine. Secondly, my steering seems to be very slopy. As my cart is maxed out going down the road it wanders back and forth. Also, as you rotate the steering wheel the tie rod seems to rotate up and down as the wheel moves. I am not sure if that is normal or not. I am running 22" off road tires. AGAIN, thank you VERY much for all of your help.

I have a 1997 ezgo and my steering was like this also. There is a bushing that you can replace where the steering arm is connected to the tie rods. You will have to take the arm off and press the old one out and press the new one back in. This helped my steering alot.

Re: OK, 2 more questions
The 'shorter' belt for the 4 stroke is the 2 stroke Ezgo belt, any year.
THe cart will be harder to shift until the belt stretches...this will take some time. You will loose some top end speed. This is the trade off for the torque gained. This is a moderate gain mod. Consider having the rear clutch milled so it closes more to give a lower starting gear ratio. CPP offered this service. |

Re: OK, 2 more questions
Not quite "any year" Scotty. According to EZGO the 1998 should have a belt length of 42 inches.
http://www.shopezgo.com/products/CVT-Drive-Belt.html The 3PG belt is 40 3/4 inches which at an 1 1/4 shorter may be a little tight. http://www.shopezgo.com/products/Dri...roduct_id=1769 However the 2PG two stroke has a belt of 46 inches which will be way too long. Dave |

Thanks for ALL of the help guys. I am not sure if I will put a shorter belt on it yet, but I do need to address the steering asap. Man, I love my cart. It is so much fun.
Thanks again, Lock |

Re: OK, 2 more questions
Sure thing, in fact here is a handy dandy reference chart for anyone else who might need to purchase a belt by length. In this case the shorter belt would be the Dayco HP2012.
