Default G2 vs G9?

I was wondering what are the differences between the G2 and G9? I'm looking at picking one up for a project, but they only have some G2's at a local golf cart graveyard. I think I plan on doing a motor swap of some sort in the future, so aside from the engine are there any other appearance, frame, axle, and/or durability differences? Or is everything pretty much the same except the motor? Thanks!

G2's, in my opinion, are little more fancy than G9's. They have some metal trim work around the cowl dash area and alumimum kick plate, side trim, etc... Dressed up a tad more. G2's also have a rev limiter built into the ignition box that G9's do not which is the only downside for me.

The engine, and probably all mechanical parts are the same in both carts. They use the same service manual.

Like Spriddle said, there are only a few cosmetic differences between them, and the electronic rev limiter.

Thanks for the info fellas! So is there not an easy way to adjust the rev limiter on a G2? What all does that entail of if I want to raise it some?

No way to adjust the rev limiter. It is built into the ignition box. Only suggestion would be to install an ignition module off of a G9 and rewire it to the ignition system. Haven't done this myself and not sure what all it would involve but I really don't think it would be that difficult.

Sounds like a pretty simple task. I'll have to weigh out the options I guess, but the 12MPH top-speed of the G2 (per Yamaha) doesn't sound too exciting :)
