Default G2 Worth the rebuild?

Hey all. I am a brand new member to this site and about to buy my first cart.
I found a G2 that needs the engine swapped out and the back up engine that's included needs the top end rebuilt. I consider myself capable of doing the work however this is my first cart project. If the deal goes through I hope to look to the veterans on this site for some tips. With that said, the cart is $350. It comes with two engines, one blown one smoking. Cosmetically everything appears to be nice shape. But without being able to test drive it I can't check the transmission. Worst case, what unexpected costs could I be getting into?
Are there other key items I should check out to avoid going upside down on the deal. I guess the bottom line is, is a 1990 at this price with the known issues worth it?

I'd jump on it in a heart beat. Last time some one asked about G2's I said I'd buy one ever chance I could. Next day I had another G2 lol. I have 7 carts and the G2 is my favorite by far.
