Default Newbie needs help with G1?!!!

Hey everyone I'm new to the buggy world...I just bought a yamaha G1. I just have a few questions about it. First off it won't stay charged I put the battery on trickle charge for a day and it dies pretty quick like in a day.....so what I'm thinking is the battery isn't staying charged (mr.obvious!) lol. My question with that is what would cause that? And pictures of all this will help. Selenoid? And I was told to buy a block off plate for the oil injection because the pump is known to go out? It looks like it's leaking but I just don't want the motor to seize up. I was also told I could pre mix instead of using the oil injection? If I could what would be a good ratio for the pre mix and how do I bypass the injection? Also I was told that it takes a special injection oil?

Well anyway sorry for all the questions just new to all this and not sure about these things.

Welcome to the site. First thing I would do is remove the drive belt. Now start the cart and get a multimeter to check the volts at the battery and see if it is charging. A good reading would be around 14.5 volts with the cart running. If you want to start premixing you gas that is fine. easiest way to do it is to simply cut off the oil supply and premix at 80:1 which is 3.2 oz of oil to 2 gallons of gas. Theres nothing special about the 2 cycle oil. Just make sure it is a good quality oil that is for air cooled 2 cycle engines.

I am also having a problem with the headlights that were installed on it when I bought it....they work fine but my problem is when the lights are on....the wire from the switch to the in line fuse is almost to hot to touch!

Well I checked the battery with a multimeter and when I started the cart the volts went down.....so I guess that means something isn't charging it? But what? What could I do to fix this?

I would check the wiring for any bad connections. Maybe a bad fuse? Its possible that the starter/generator is not properly charging the battery.

If the wire to the inline fuse is getting hot then the wire is too small for the amps it has to conduct. Make sure the wire is not grounded somewhere causing an overload and check the amount of amps your lights should draw and size the wire and fuse accordingly.
