Default G1 engine problem

It's been awhile since I’ve posted and unfortunately I might already know the answer but wanted to ask the experts first!

Let my daughter and a friend take the cart out and about two hours later they were pushing back! Engine wouldn’t even try to turn over. Loosened the electric motor and it works, tried rotating the engine by hand using the pulley and got it to move. However, it won’t go a full 360. When the piston is near the bottom something is stopping rotation.

So the question… any other way to investigate before having to pull the engine and doing the right way!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it is time for a rebuild. Sometimes the piston skirts break off. All you can do is hope the bottom end is still good, top end rebuild is pretty reasonable. On the good side they run a lot better when the top end is fresh (and your muffler is clean). But if there is a mechanical issue inside the engine, it is certainly a major issue.

Thanks sho305! Kinda figured that would be the case. Hopefully your right and it's just the top end. Did find another link that noted getting a top end kit for around $150 from one of the site sponsors. Think I'll wait until I get it open to see what it looks like.

I would look closely for Blueing when you tear it down,The Oil-Pump may have failed, causing it to run out of oil.
