Trouble with G11 Front End Disassembly
We’re starting to put the Jakes lift on the G11. We pulled the left side front suspension off without too much trouble. Then we got started on the right side…and got “hung up”.
Everything came off OK until we tried taking the Lower Arm off. It seems the cart must have been in some kind of crash or something at some time because the bolts that go through the bushings will NOT come out. They seem to be binding or bent or something, and will not come out of the frame. We even tried cutting through the Arm near one of the bushings figuring that would relieve the tension, but no go. They are bound so tight that we cannot even get those two bolts to turn even using an air-impact driver. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the blasted thing off without screwing up the frame? I’ll try to post up some pics of what it looks like tonight or tomorrow. |

Re: Trouble with G11 Front End Disassembly
Here's a couple of pics. Looks like those bolts should just slide right outtta there.

Cut the bolt off next to the bushing, at the bolt head end. with a saw's all!
This is a common problem. When you install the new lift, make SURE you use "anti seize" on all bolt shanks, and all parts of the ressembly! |

Re: Trouble with G11 Front End Disassembly
The bolts just rust up real bad inside the bushing, had the same problem with one on my 01 G-20. Just cut it off on both sides inside the frame mount and leave the stuck piece in the A-Arm.

Re: Trouble with G11 Front End Disassembly
Thanks gents, I hosed them down really good this morning with some Kroil. I'll let that sit for a spell and see if that helps loosen them up any.
I'll obviously need to replace these two bolts. Should I just go down to the local NAPA store with one of the good ones as an example? I emailed the local Yammy dealer with the part numbers of the bolts...he does not have them in stock. Is there a good source for Yammy OEM parts on the web? The bolts are #90105-10357-00. |
