Default minor G2 problem

most of the time the cart is running great. I've tested the battery sitting and running and it's fine. but once or twice a day, I have to tap the starter generator with a screwdriver and then it runs fine again. just a light tap. Does this mean my brushes or something is going bad??? Can I fix it? thanks in advance....Greg

The brushes may be worn down and the springs are tired and not staying in contact with
the armature.

i had that same problem about a year ago. i wound up just biting the bullet and buying a new starter. Expensive i know but what a huge difference it makes having a new one

DOOms, is spot on....change the brushes before they damage the commutater portion (were the brushes ride) of the armature! Just more money you don't need to spend.

If you aren't comfortable trying to fix it,pull it out and take it to a Starter/Alternator Rebuilder. They can usually turn them around in a day,and they can check the entire unit for you.Hope this helps.
