G2 clutch help
I have a g2 that I need to replace a couple of the drive clutch weights, and I need to know if you can use a hammer and punch to remove the pins or do they need pressed in and out? Thanks so much!

Re: G2 clutch help
Just did this myself. Very easy job and you have nothing to worry about. You don't need a hammer and punch. The pins are held in by small Allen screws so you need a set of Allen wrenches.

Re: G2 clutch help
Put some heat to the Allen screw area when you remove the screws. To soften the lock tight on the screws. And, use lock tight again when reassembling!
And if your doing 2, I'd do all 3 weights. |

Re: G2 clutch help
Just worked over mine. You can heat and remove all the bottom pins to get the spider off, or you can remove two of them and flip the spider out and leave it connected. I use a propane torch like you would solder copper pipe with, about the time the washer starts to melt on the edge is warm enough. I made new bushings out of Bic pen caps, but the plastic is softer. My sheave is close to wearing through so I don't think it will last more than a year or two anyway. I'd put some oil on the pins when you are done. Get the removable loctite and don't put the set screws in real tight, they should not be that tight when you take them out. Its just a bunch of fiddling around it took two of us like 3 hours to get mine back together. Two weights were bad one was broken out and we put another used in, the other the bushing was gone and its worn. I even cut half bushings to put behind the bushing lol, but like I said its on its last days anyway. I had some parts from rebuilding other clutches. Another trick you can try is get a new belt and grind down the inside of the sheave when you have it apart so it pushes the (top of the) belt out above the groove next to the starter belt. It may give more speed, I have to get the clone in my cart to find out if it works. I just ground it with a 4" grinder carefully and fit the belt. Didn't take that much off but the belt sat inside the top on mine. Stock with 22s blown up to 15psi it would gps 30 on pavement and 28 on dirt, all it had was a hogged out stock airbox and rejetted, and of course no governor at all.
