Mine is a 79. I believe the one in this thread is an 84 which would be the same belt.

Re: New belt issues
Ok Everyone heres what I came up with
Gates #6044 for the 1-3/16" x 44-1/8" belt's which is 7/8" shorter than OEM belt this will fit the older 80"s to like 88 I 'm not sure what the 88 or the 3pg carts take but the 4 strokers from like 91 on take the Gates 6098 belt. |

Re: New belt issues
Just call Napa and give the gates number and they might have to order it but it took like 2 days for mine I think and it was around $28.00 if I remember right.

Re: New belt issues
Thanks Doc, I'll have to try that out. Hopefully, the guys at my NAPA isn't on crack. I've got the worst NAPA store in my town. I'll see if my Carquest can cross reference it, since I get a break there.
This is for the 85 Marathon, but I also have an 83 and 87 Marathon too. The 87 runs really good, and the 83 some real needs help. And I could use the OEM belt as a spare for future use. Thanks for your knowledge, and helping me out. |
