voltage issues with old melex
First off I would like to say this is a great forum with great folks that really give great help and advice...hence
I got an old melex 152 or 252 i think...looks like the wiring diagram I got anyway. 36v...electronic controller... turn key on, put it in gear, press pedal, click and nothing...replaced solenoid and it clicks...but nothing, motor will not go I had the motor cleaned out and recoated...still nothing But here is what I have notice and Im not sure this is right...sounds crazy to me...using a multimeter...key off...im reading 30-32v at the motor at the A1 and A2 post?!?!?!? Is this right?? key on and press pedal it goes to 38v....but should it read that much at the motor with the key off... Here it is beginning of hunting season and my cart is dead...PLEASE HELP I am lost on this |

Re: voltage issues with old melex
Is this a resistor coil drive system or a solid state speed control cart?

Re: voltage issues with old melex
This is a series drive system? One with no run toe switch?
If yes, then when the solenoid clicks you should read full pack voltage between controller B- and M minus. This reading should decrease as you press the peddle. If no, check the throttle input signal and verify power to small controller pin number one when you try to go. |

Re: voltage issues with old melex
yep there is no run tow switch.
I tested the controller across B- and B+ (melex) and I get 38 volts when pedal depressed. but there is still voltage reading when its not depressed |
