Default 1996 Club car DS vs 2002 Ezgo txt

Greetings all,

Need some advice I have acquired both of these carts, neither runs at this time. What are the pros and cons. Which is better to restore? Looking for possible street legal/camp ground cart.

Thank you in advance,

The Club Car has an all aluminum frame which is a major pro in my opinion. They were built to last from the very beginning. I have restored a 96 from an early grave once already.

If they are both 48v carts I'd initially give advantage to the Club

The main question is do you know what each needs to run in terms of investment needed? The ezgo might make a good flip if it doesn't require much, running carts will fetch decent cash compared to a non-running one.

I'm not so sure about Club Car being longer lived than EZGO. EZGO's can be pretty tough, just check out this current thread regarding a water damaged Club Car.

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...c-flooded.html

"Another guy in the same campground has an EXGO TXT that took on the same amount of water. He let it dry out and was running it around the campground a couple days after with no problems at all. So I'm trying to have some hope here"

From what I read the aluminum Club Car frames are nice feature but golf cart frames are usually way down the list of things that have problems.

Aluminum is strong and light. Aluminum frame carts are up to 150 pounds lighter than steel frame carts. This weight reduction increases the power to weight ratio and makes the CC a little better off the road but, not so much I have to give up my Ezgos Aluminum frames are subject to stress cracking. Most all the old carts running around need structural repairs where the cross members weld in.
Not sure I want one cart to last me the rest of my life. We've had Ezgos, CC, and even TDs that lasted 30 yrs of daily ranch work and they were not new when we acquired them.
My favorite cart today = Ezgo TXT48

I just discovered the Club car is a 48 Volt. Does this change things? Thoughts appreciated.

The ezgo have weak rear drums they strip out splines but easy fix I don't like the battery setup the back ones are harder to water
