I was reading there is a issue with Vista and win7. You really need XP or older to run the Alltrax software, it is really a driver issue with the usb-serial cord more than the programing software.

I had so many issues trying to get both the Alltrax software as well as the Curtis software to work on my Windos 7 64 bit laptop that I went out and bought a windows XP netbook (cost like $219 new from CompUSA). Haven't had any issues with it since ......
