Re: Rear suspension
I couldn't see, but feeling around under mine, it felt like there were bushings on the front side of the rear springs. I know there were bushings in back, so mine has 4 per spring, or 8 total in the rear.

Re: Rear suspension
There are 6 bushings and 2 spacers per spring. Diagram only shows 1 spacer (item 12) though for some reason.

Re: Rear suspension
Doh! I only looked at the actual spring. Forgot about the two on the shackles.

Re: Rear suspension
Are the spacers generally reusable or should I just order them too?

Re: Rear suspension
Some spring kits come with a couple spacers and bushings, not enough to replace everything though.
Most of the time I can clean the bolts and spacers for reuse. Sometimes they are totally gone. |

Re: Rear suspension
I went to try and see if they were plastic or metal but they're totally enclosed so you can't see it. I looked for my receipt but couldn't find that either.
I've only worked on springs on this one buggy, so I'd go with what others say. |

Re: Rear suspension
Spacers are steel and subject to corrosion and wear.

Re: Rear suspension
Being a 1998 and a Workhorse, plus the fact that his springs were flat, it may have seen a hard life. In situations like this, I generally assume the worse. Don't wanna have to tear it apart twice.

Re: Rear suspension
On the bushing subject. Does anyone know off heavy duty neoprene bushings? Mine are only a year old and are shot again.

Re: Rear suspension
Sounds like an 11 dollar insurance policy to just get the new spacers
