Re: Rev contactor ?
The controller only flashes green. I repositioned the wires on both solenoid post. Still when I hook up battery power the small + post on the solenoid starts smoking. Afraid to leave power hooked up to read a code

Re: Rev contactor ?
If you didn't clean that carbon trail nothing has changed.

Re: Rev contactor ?
Glad we found something. The diode should pass current one way and not the other.
Set your meter to continuity test and check the diode. Note the result then swap ends and retest. If you get the same results both ways the diode is bad and must be replaced. |

Re: Rev contactor ?
I disconnected the - end of the diode and run on stands and no smoke. Then I took the diode off the cart and check with meter,it only has flow 1 way, good. Then I reinstalled the diode and took the grandson home,1/2 mile round trip and NO smoke?

Re: Rev contactor ?
Was part of the diode grounding out on something else or another wire?

Re: Rev contactor ?
Is that a ground wire connected to the body under the SPM on the top left of the 1st picture you have? If so, you might want to move that to the battery pack (-) instead to be safe.

Re: Rev contactor ?
The SPM & SR controls utilizes a throttle signal filter which connects to vehicle ground.
