36V EZGO low voltage
I am a novice when it comes to electric carts & I am trying to determine why my cart will not go. Solenoid clicks, reverse alarm sounds, micro-switches work, reed switch bypassed. Should cart move at all if I am getting less than 36V from the batteries? Tying to refurbish them but don't think it is working. I am thinking it is either batteries or controller.

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Max, if you are getting less than 36v.....for starters, how much less? you need to SERIOUSLY charge them. as when you get to 36v, they are considered DEAD (50% Charge). a fully charged pack is 38.3v.....and if its too low, the charger won't even come on until you get them charged up a little using a 12v charger and charge them 2 at a time.

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Put the meter on the pack and try to go. What is the pack voltage at a stand still & what does the pack voltage drop to when you press the gas?

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Currently getting 26V. Ill have to check voltage with pedal pressed when I get everything put back together. Looks like batteries are 2007 and are bulged. I cleaned them out with baking soda water and refilled with epson salt distilled water, hoping to fix them.

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Voltage is too low to make the cart go. You are swimming against a rip tide here. The 8 yr old batteries are not coming back to life.
Also low voltage operation MAY DAMAGE the speed control. |

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Thank you very much for the information. I figured it was a battery problem. I am trying to sell the thing so it pains me to go spend $600.00 for batteries and then who knows if the controller is any good.

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
Your batteries are way beyond repair - and if they are 2007, they are end of life for sure! The snake oil treatment isn't going to help. If you keep trying to run it with bad batteries, you may kill the controller.

Re: 36V EZGO low voltage
If you need to know if it runs. Put 3 - 12 volt batteries in the cart to see if it runs. It will run for a few miles with the 12 volt batteries
