Re: brake shoes don't brake
When I replace the brakes on the cart with the self adjusters, I turn in the screw all the way to the star wheel. When I get everything back together I can hear the self adjuster system clicking as I apply the brakes going back and forth on the driveway.

Re: brake shoes don't brake
I did the adjuster setting full in, but did not listen for the clicking sound. I'll do that. Thx.

Re: brake shoes don't brake
I to replaced my brakes over a year ago now and they never stopped right after . I even replaced the brake cables (one needed it bad ) and that didnt help . I have taken the drum off cleaned every thing roughed up the drum and pads , still the same . Whats funny if I go though a good size puddle or wash the cart and get them wet , hang on cause they will lock the wheels if you hit the brakes. I did get a new set of pads from TahoeDawgZ71 @ Revolution Golf cars , but havent put them on yet because the other ones have plenty of meat on them and I guess just plan laziness LOL .

Re: brake shoes don't brake
Let me suggest something I saw on one cart.
The screw that turns into the ratchet wheel on the self-adjuster is typically turned all the way in. The self-adjuster then automatically works that screw outward to keep the shoes close to the drum. Make sure that screw is moveable with your fingers. I saw another problem on a DS. There is a nut that goes through the brake backing plate that holds the slider assembly in place. If that is too tight it can also cause brake problems. It's in behind the dust cover on the back of the brake assembly on some DS carts. |

Re: brake shoes don't brake
OEM brakes work better than anything else. That's all I'll use. There are certain things you can cut corners on, but brakes aren't one of them. I've seen some pretty cheap junk from China that wouldn't stop a cart in the length of a football field.
