Default Re: 36v dpi charger question.

10/4 kernal. I figured they were toast but was hoping for the best. i am about to place an order for 6 6v interstate batteries ( have a dealer close to me ) is why im going with interstate.

question: i know everyone says it would be worth my wild to change to 48v instead of 36v since i have to buy new batteries but what exactly is involved in a switch over? besides 8v batteries and 48v charger? new motor? i have already bought a new 36v dpi charger so if those cant be converted to 48v easily i will just stick with the 36v setup. Any thoughts on that?

To really answer that, we need to know what drive system you have - series, DCS, PDS, and what you want the cart to do long term.

New batteries are the cheapest, but if you want to go fast, make it pretty with a lift and bigger tires, go off-roading, carry heavy loads, live in flat area or hills, total you want to spend, etc. Also, depends on the condition of the existing cables, FNR if it has one.

Even though you spent a fair amount on your new charger, you may be able to sell it on this forum.

Just things to consider. Mine was a series, so it cost a lot to get what I wanted. "Fortunately" my batteries gave me several years, so I had time to figure out exactly what I wanted, and a path forward for the upgrades, so I didn't have any throw-aways, besides the charger, which I sold, and the original motor, which I've been procrastinating on selling.

Good luck.
