Default Please School me on what to look for....

Going look at a 1998 EZGO tomorrow and know nothing about them.....The guy that owns it doesn't either!

He says it's a 1998, 36volt, batteries 2 years old,4" lift, 23" tires, High Torque Controller and Motor, but he doesn't know any of the models......frame recently painted also. Pics look nice.

I've been stuck in a Club Car with the resistor coils and have been struggling with spending all the $$$ on the solid state conversion.....

I know it's a tough question to answer without the model name or sn but are these carts easy to swap to 48V?

I can post the exact cart, controller, and motor info tomorrow after I look at it. Not gonna jump the gun on this one without some info. I would like 18-20 mph and decent torque if possible....

Here's a link to the cart https://cenla.craigslist.org/snw/5938044264.html

From the pictures it looks like an alltrax controller and mzj solenoid. That seems like a good price around here that would be $3000 +.

It also looks like the battery cables have been upgraded. As for performance I am not sure on 36 volt carts. I would bring a volt meter and check the batteries. Good luck.

Yeah, that looks like it'd be a good deal here in Northern California as well. Some of the smarter guys can get into what that controller is capable of. It looks like I see a d&d motors sticker too. See if you can get the numbers from the motor and controller, then someone on here will fill you in on capabilities.

I know you said batteries were 2 years old but I'd suggest you check them out thoroughly. If they're no good it's 6-800 +. Check the water level (that'll give you an idea of his maintenance habits) put a dvm to each battery, and under load as well.

Good advice and I appreciate it! Regardless I'm gonna put that battery pack in my Club Car to sell and upgrade to 48 volts on this EZGO if possible. But again, thanks for the feedback!

That thing looks like it's already 90% ready for 48v. Controller is good for 48v, motor should be too, not sure about the contactor. Who knows, if that contactor is good for 48v, it would just be a charger & a set of batteries. Plus little things like replace any 36v accessories like energy meter & stuff with 48v.

Too good to be true kinda deal......it had the right controller/motor for sure. Alltrax with D&Dmotor. But the rear end made an awful sound, cart barely ran 8 mph, batteries weren't cared for......... Makes me want to just suck it up amd upgrade what I have.......that isn't JUNK
