Ezgo txt pds problem
2013 ezgo txt pds, 36v, 2016 interstate batteries, new solenoid. I have been going to a very large flea market for the past 3 days, running the cart for about 3 1/2 hours, stop and go, sometimes very slow because of the crowd. Day one about 3 hrs, didn't notice a problem, day 2, 3 1/2 hrs, when we tried to load cart on trailer it didn't have enough power to load, finally got it to load on trailer, charged it up and day 3, almost 4 hrs running, loaded with no problem, thought the new solenoid may have fixed it, but no luck. Got home unloaded it and drove it full speed for about a mile, started some off road running and it slowed to a crawl, then no go. Turned key off for a few minutes and was able to get it home at a slow speed. Batteries where at 38.4 this morning, 36 when I got it home.

Re: Ezgo txt pds problem
It sounds like you're just running the batteries down. I believe the cart draws more juice with the slow speed crawl, and the stop and go will definitely eat up battery pack. If you were at 36.0v when you got it home, that's about 40% soc. One of the experts will chime in, but I don't think the cart Will run at that voltage, and it's not good for the batteries to be drawn down that low. The pack "recuperates" a bit, which is allowing you to move it again without charging.
Attached is a soc guide from Johnnieb. The guy is on her all of the time helping people out and is a guru with this electrical stuff. |

Re: Ezgo txt pds problem
Quote:
Stop and go driving uses a lot more amps than steady driving and driving at walking speed averages three or four times the amp draw from the battery than cruising at top speed does. Basically, the flea market cart usage is just about the worst case scenario for run-time and range on a single charge. If your tires are tall than stock (18"), than the amp usage is greater. A stock 36V PDS cart with a standard (225AH) battery pack has a range just over 20 Miles and a run-time of a bit over one hour, so it depends on how many of the 3 to 4 hours spent at the flea market was actual pedal time. |

Re: Ezgo txt pds problem
Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure about how long the batteries were supposed to last. I had those same batteries in a 93 marathon last month and rode that same flea market for about 5 hrs with no problem. It was totally stock, no rear seat, brush guard and the tires were stock.
