I have purchased 3 battery packs (one for myself and two buddies) from Advance. You get a 3 month warranty (IIRC) and while it IS a bit of a gamble, it's half the cost of a regular pack.

Also, Advance can't sell batts older than 5 months as new (or it may have been 6 months, can't remember for sure) so one of the sets I found sitting in the new batteries they just didn't realize it was old. I told them and got six 8v batteries for 47.50 each.

Other parts houses may have similar policies??? Good luck.

Good info! Thanks

Maybe I was dreaming, or drunk, or both, but I think I saw a STANLEY brand charger that will charge anything from 6 to 48 volts. Worth checking into.

Actually I've had a similar question for a while now. I would like to keep a set of decent batteries around for testing carts. Not just testing a motor, but to actually install and test drive carts. But, that would mean having a dozen, (six 6 volt, and six 8 volt) batteries laying around in my way all the time. Would it hurt to test a 36 volt cart with 5 eight volt batteries?

All you need is 4 12 volt batteries to TEST a 36 volt cart or a 48 volt cart, and you only have 4 batteries sitting around

I have yet to see one of those Stanley chargers make it past a year and a half. If it seems too good to be true......

There is a few thread here about the Stanley charger. And most of them were not good . Most said the charger didn't last long before it crapped out
