A little bit of the water does evaporate, but not very much even when batteries are warm.

Sit a glass of hot water in direct sunlight and see how fast it evaporates.

I have a dpi charger and I was having the same problem it took a long time to charge like 20 hours and the garage was so strong with fumes. At first I thought it was because I had so many batteries 9 8 volt and they are the 205ah. I had the charger set for us batteries mode 4. I wound up calling dpi and I talked to a tech and his advice was to change to mode 2. Now it’s seem to charge like its suppose to

As I read the manual, US Batteries are Mode 1. Trojans are Mode 2. You are running a 72V system so I can't say what is right for you.

I'm not fond of the various whole battery pack watering systems, too many things can go wrong.
I prefer this: https://www.amazon.com/Quart-Capacit...battery+filler

Be sure to change the mode on the DPI to Trojan battery when you install the T-1275's.

That was a jump from the highest absorption voltage to the lowest, maybe one of the two in between might be better.

According to US Battery's brochure (attached) for the US 8VHATB XC2 battery you have, the absorption voltage should be 2.45V +/- 0.05V (Volts per Cell) which gives a range from 2.40V to 2.50V. The absorption voltage in Mode-2 (Trojan battery) is 2.35V.

Mode-3 is 2.40V, Mode-4 is 2.45V and Mode-1 is 2.50V. (Or at least that is what I got from DPI a couple of years ago, before they change the name of Mode-4 from Full River to Crown/AGM.)

The float charge voltage is different in the different modes also, but as long is it is from about 0.2V to 0.6V higher than the at rest voltage, it ought to be okay.

What are you getting for an at-rest voltage (12 hours after the charger is disconnected from cart without the cart being used)

According to the info I got from US Battery, the at-rest voltage of their 2V cells is 2.137V, which is 76.932V for a 72V pack.

Roger on the mode change. I have that quart battery filler. Kind of a pain for the rear battery but it works. Then I'll pass on the Hydrolink.

Got a good look inside the batteries. Wow...heavily sulfated. These are done. At least I'll start off right with a DPI and a fresh pack. Had Trojans in the cart before this one and they lasted 7 years. Would have gone longer but a cable broke off and burnt a hole in a case.

Yeah, the spout has to be vertical or it overfills a bit.
For the hard to reach ones, try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Plews-75-033-...battery+filler
