1998 TXT will not go in fwd or reverse
Bought 1998 36v TXT DCS on Friday. Cart did not run as all batteries were old and charger would not charge them. Yesterday, bought 6 new batteries from Costco, installed and fully charged them. When installing the batteries noticed noticed the red/white wire coming from the charger receptacle was not connected. After some research, connected the wire to the positive of battery one and cart went in forward and reverse. Grabbed my wife to go on the inaugural drive, and went about 200 feet when the cart started beeping (I think 3 times) and the cart stopped. I let off the gas and then pressed the pedal again, went about 10 feet and did the same thing again. After that, cart wouldn't move and we had to push it back home in maintenance mode. Since then, I haven't been able to get the cart to move.
I found some instructions to diagnose ezgo beep codes but can't get the cart to make any beeps except when switching to reverse. Thought maybe the solenoid but not certain if I'm getting accurate readings as the solenoid only clicks when I initially put the cart in forward or reverse, after that it doesn't make a clicking sound. Any thoughts? |

You should have 36v + at both ends of each red line on this diagram when you try to go. Start at the battery and see where the power stops.

Re: 1998 TXT will not go in fwd or reverse
Finally had the chance to take some readings now that the Christmas is over. Here is what I had: 39V across batteries, 39V on solenoid connected to B+, 39V on opposite big terminal on solenoid. When accelerator is depressed, no drop in voltage on this terminal, no click either. Small terminal on solenoid with red and yellow wire was 33.5V and small terminal with blue wire was 38V and dropped between 4.0V - 5.0V when accelerator was pressed.
I also took readings off the controller: B+ terminal 39V, pin 10 (red/yellow) 38.9V, pin 9 (red) 38.9V, pin 5 (green) 0V, when accelerator pressed 5.2V (again no click sound), pin 7 (Blue) 35V, pin 2 (black) 14.12V and pin 1 (white) .46V. I'm not certain, but from what I've read, I'm not getting the readings I should be getting from the solenoid. The crazy thing is it ran fine on Sat and then again on Monday afternoon. Was cruising down the road, let of the accelerator and tried to go again and it didn't move. Didn't have any tools with me, just kept turning it off and flipping the tow/run switch and after about 15 mins it decided to go. Drove it home and parked it in the driveway. Went out about 15 mins later, it moved like a foot and just died. Been dead since. All connections seem solid. |
