Precedent making loud squealing sound
I have a 2006 Precedent with the 4-12 volt battery configuration. When my cart is cold it makes a loud squealing noise when traveling at high speeds. Its a stock cart for the most part. My first thought was motor brushes or a bearing. It actually sounds like a belt on your car squealing. Anybody have a starting point I can try or way to diagnose it?
Thanks |

Re: Precedent making loud squealing sound
Any experience i have had with that type of a noise was your first thought. It was the brushes and once in a while it was a bearing....

Re: Precedent making loud squealing sound
Brushes often make this noise at high speeds. Not sure what the actual reason is for this, but I have a theory. When the brushes wear they naturally get shorter. When they get shorter, the spring that presses them downward onto the commutator loses tension because it's not wound as tight as it was when the brushes were new. This loss of tension causes a poor connection and causes the squeal.
