Default 48v TXT Speed Enhancement

Ezgo 48v TXT with Curtis 1206HB-5201 controller. Freedom mode enabled, speed limited to 19.5 mph. Are there any options (other than wheel size) for getting 2 or 3 more mph without going to an Alltrax? The speed magnet "trick" is commonly used on Club Car IQ's but has anyone ever tried it on an Ezgo or is that not possible?

Programming-wise, the 1206HB-5201 can be turned up to give faster accel and regen braking tuning. As for top speed, the primary limit is the safe RPM limit of the stock motor. Sure, you can try a speed magnet, but do you really want to have your motor destroy itself?

OK, thank you. I just wondered if any one had tried the magnet and what happened. I was asking on behalf of a local dealer who needs to get more speed for a customer. He wants to change the gear ratio to get to 25 mph. He is aware that he will lose torque but the customer says he is OK with that.

Ok, well torque can be turned up in the controller to compensate, as long as he does not go overboard with gears or tire size. I can only turn the speed up about 5% via programming on the TXT48 stock controller otherwise. That means about 21 MPH with stock tires and gears. A set of 20-20.5"" tires on the rear will give him his 25 MPH target speed once that stock controller is turned up.

That stock controller is limited to a fraction of its 250 Amp current rating the way it is configured from the factory. I have the ability to turn it up to its maximum rating and to increase the accel rate. That controller can be mailed to me for doing that. It's a fairly simple procedure with my high level programming station. A handset cannot be used to do that.

Uhmm. I'll bet they can go with the smallest Alltrax and gain torque and speed for the same money
