48v TXT Speed Enhancement

That stock controller is limited to a fraction of its 250 Amp current rating the way it is configured from the factory. I have the ability to turn it up to its maximum rating and to increase the accel rate. That controller can be mailed to me for doing that. It's a fairly simple procedure with my high level programming station. A handset cannot be used to do that.

A local dealer offers a “speed enhancement” on a 48 txt for $50, claiming to raise top speed from 14 to 19 mph. It appears to be the same procedure that you describe...turning up the controller to its max rating. Does this procedure improve torque and hill climbing ability or is it just to boost the top speed?

No, the dealer can only offer you "Freedom Mode", 19.5 MPH, which causes an additional 12% loss in torque. If you have larger tires, that reduction in torque can actually slow you down, depending upon your actual tire size.
