UHHH,,, that is only the coupler rating. Is there a build tag on the frame somewhere? Usually drivers side near the front of the frame rails.

I looked everywhere found nothing this trailer for tags.other than what is on the tongue it looks like its made out of 3/16 steel has a descent axle. I am worried about the springs though. I definitely need to find out if it’s safe for the highway.

Good idea. Find out from the local authorities if you would be able to register it for the road before you put a lot of time and money into it. Do you have to get it registered (number plates etc) in your state?

Does it need brakes?

Cheers and good luck.

Good pic of axle may help with weight limits.
(Part number on axle somewhere ? )
Guessing 1200 or 1700 lb axle.
...
(Axle rating ) - (total trailer weight ) = max load
1700 - 550 = 1150 max load.

Thinking its going to be ok i will have it inspected ask questions then. All tacked together needs welded out. It’s a galvanized frame will be sick tomorrow. Thinking floor boards will be about a half hour job. Treated deck boards good to go. My bro said he brought 2 jet skies home on it they have a dry weight of 1400lbs 90 mile trip nothing bent. Springs still there.

It does look like a double jet ski trailer with the bunks removed, I'd deck it with some treated 5/4" deckboards; repack the wheel bearing too

Sounds like you will be ok.

I tend to over engineer

but one thought here is weight distribution, the weight of the jet ski is distributed over 6' or 7'. the weight of the cart is going to rest on 4 small tire prints.

I once built a motorcycle trailer to hold 2 900lb bikes. It was built with a 3500lb capacity, but when I loaded the bikes the tires sat between the cross members and bowed my nice aluminum diamond plate floor. Lesson learned the hard way
