Changed Speed Sensor...
Ok, Last post today.
Bought cart last week. 2006 A couple days ago put new Trojan Batteries in. It was running faster in reverse than forward. After a little research it appeared that the speed senor needed to be changed. So, I went to my go-to shopping place...Amazon and purchased new one for $15.00 Installed it tonight, cart ran great(15mph).... then it wouldn't run at all. If you wait, flip direction switch a few times it'll go. Think it's a bad speed sensor? Should I just to local shop and buy one($70)? Any advice appreciated. Ash |

Lol! If I had a nickle for......
Go here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/motors and buy an OEM that will work and not fail like that. It will also be backed by the Supplier, David Hicks as an OEM Distributor.... |

Re: Changed Speed Sensor...
Well, new speed sensor installed... Same thing happens. Works great at first, then stops. Runs when it wants. I didn't get the magnet this time (I assumed for the price it was included). Could that be it?

Re: Changed Speed Sensor...
If you remove the magnet you can inspect it for damage. If it is, just order you a HS (High Speed) replacement. They are cheap. Find them here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/motors
Here is how you test the speed sensor to see if it is getting the correct signal (a broken magnet would make it erratic or fail). With a DVM, place the black (–) probe on the battery main pack Negative post and place the red (+) probe on the green wire between the 3-pin connector and the motor speed sensor. Raise one rear wheel off ground. Slowly turn the rear wheel to rotate the motor armature. As the armature rotates, the voltage reading should alternate from 0vdc to approximately 4.85vdc. The voltage reading will fluctuate from zero to 4.85vdc and back to zero four times for each revolution of the motor armature. |

Re: Changed Speed Sensor...
Flipping the FnR switch a couple times makes it go, I would think that's a bad switch.
Pull the switch out and pop it apart. Dirty contacts or water intrusion will cause problems. Can usually be cleaned and put back on. Be sure to note which wires go to which pins. |

Re: Changed Speed Sensor...
Ok, went to local Golf Carts Unlimited and they sold me a potentiometer and it seems to be working fine now.
I've started my upgrades. I'll post some pictures in a bit Ash |
