Default Replacement Bolts for holding down Pedal Group

Morning All,

I have a 2007 CC Precedent IQ, and was about to install a new MCOR, and discovered the two large T-30 bolts, left of the brake pedal, have rusted and were stripped (previous owner?).

Question: if/when I can free these up, where can I get new hardware? Local hardware store?

Z.

Default Re: Replacement Bolts for holding down Pedal Group

I had to replace a few of those. I bought grade 8 socket head cap screws from Lowes and used small washers under the heads. I don’t remember the size off-hand. I wanna say the ones on the brake bracket were 1/4-20 thread but I could be wrong. Easy to match them up if you can get one out without ruining the threads. I only used grade 8 mostly for rust resistance. I also used blue loctite on the threads to help prevent rust and keep them from possibly backing out.

I think the original screws on mine were stainless and were threaded into aluminum which is a big problem because it causes galvanic corrosion. They were also interference fit threads which are usually a PITA anyway. One broke and I had to heat the aluminum plate with a torch to allow the other three to be removed without breaking. A little bit of heat on the plate around the bolt will help break the corrosion bond and allow them to come out.
