Default Baffled by reduced batteries

I have a 2006 Club Car 48 volt. Batteries are one year old.
The cart is used very regular through out town maybe 10-20 miles a week but never more than 8 miles at a time. I tend to keep my volt meter in the cart so I can keep tabs on the voltage. Usually I'm at 70-80% when I get home for the day and plug in the charger. I also make sure I have full voltage before the next ride. Here's the problem. The last two rides...full voltage when I left the house, drove about 4 miles to a festival here in town. Parked, about 4 hours later before leaving, check voltage again, 90%. Within a mile from home the cart was barely moving. Made it home, checked the voltage again and was down to 15%. This has happened on my last two rides both about the same distance. Can't figure out for anything why I'm losing so much voltage on the way home.

Next time that happens measure the individual battery voltages, use the 20vDC scale or equivalent on your meter to get two decimal places on the reading.

You may have a bad cell in one of the batteries.

Thanks, I'll do a test tonight. I'm probably only going to run about a mile or two one way to the ball field. I'll test each individual battery before I leave the house, once again before I head home and again when I get back. Along with the full pack voltage?

Just do it before you leave and again when you return, You are basically looking for one battery being much lower than the others at the end.

Start measuring the voltages on the same end of the pack every time, battery #1 is the pack positive.

Measuring the entire pack voltage is not required.

Also, make sure you let the batteries sit for a minute or so before taking readings. This allows for the voltages to settle down and gives you more accurate readings.

what brand batteries? Hopefully you got good brands, not some garbage ala Rural King/Super Start, etc. Rural King/etc you get what you pay for.

What is a bad voltage on an 8 volt battery? Is 6.75 bad?

That's awful. It's off the chart.
