Boom
Have had this cart for nigh on 30 years. Lift kit, paint job, always well maintained.
Today drove to the next door, parked chit chat for a while, stepped on peddle to go home, heard a not so loud bang, and cart then went dead. Suspected the Solenoid so left it parked for about 5 hours while I tried to find a new part. Heard a hissing coming from the Battery compartment, lifted the seat and the nbr 6 Battery exploded. Cannot imagine what caused it. Cart was fully charged when I left the house. Any ideas as to what causes something like this? Not sure if I want to fix it. Kind of scary. |

Re: Boom
A loose cable, A spark in the battery area, A short in the battery. There is a few reasons it could happen. Did you wash the cart down good to get all the battery acid off?

Re: Boom
Thanks for the feedback. Think I'll let someone else fix this, its time for a new/er Club Car.
They sure demand a lot more money for them now. |

Re: Boom
Batteries are like hand grenades especially liquid acid batteries - gel based batteries are much safer. Outside of poor maintenance and over charging - vibration is very destructive. If you can see inside of your battery the plates are like a large screen with little rectangular holes in it. The lead is soft and pressed into those holes - if the acid level goes below the plates they dry out and the lead paste can come loose from vibration and short the battery causing an explosion.
