Default V-glide getting hot

Good morning. I've a 1990 club car 36v cart. When I bought it the v-glide switch sparked when depressing the accelerator. After looking at it I noticed it had gotten hot and was melted around the lower stud which has the white cable on either side. I removed it and bought new form switch. Installed it, adjusted the wiper switch and it seemed ok. Now when I got the new switch it did not come with a new stud so I made one. After a couple weeks that got extremely hot and the plastic got hot. I even put it on jack stands and it gets hot with no drag from rear end. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Resistor coil technology is from 1940. It worked okay for golf when every component in the cart was new. It was designed around a 5 yr lease program and it did that for golf okay. After a few years the motor starts drawing additional amperage and the contacts throughout the system are worn, pitted, or corroded. Failure is eminent
It's destined to have problems if modified or used in any way other than golf which is a very short drive and rest (cool) and repeat. This cart can be converted to solid state.

X2 to what Scotty said. If you like the cart and plan on keeping it around, convert it to a modern solid state system.

I agree with the two above, but if you are looking for the reason the sparking and melting of the v glide, it usually comes from a broken coil.
